CHASING CELIA

Chasing Celia is a speculative design piece exploring the impact of human intervention on biodiversity through the now extinct Pyrenean Ibex. We created a website that combines documentation, data collection and fictional pieces around the myth of the survival of Celia, the extinct Pyrenean Ibex which was cloned that survived all of ten minutes in 2023.

In collaboration with Maria Jose Chaud.

The aim was to provoke critical reflection on the consequences of human intervention on nature, using myth as a vehicle to raise awareness about ecological fragility and the role of technology in preserving and/or manipulating life.

The project's visual components combine graphic, layout and web design as well as 3D and AI programs to develop all the elements linked to the myth of Celia, including the construction of topographic maps using elevation data via NASA and real life coordinates extracted from Google Maps.
